I was finally able to get my hands on the SodaStream Revolution home soda maker, supposedly one of the best soda carbonation systems on the market. I have tried it out a number of times now and have been very impressed with how well it has worked. I decided to write this SodaStream Revolution review to help anyone interested in buying it make an informed decision.
SodaStream has once again outdone itself in producing the Revolution. I have owned several different models over the last couple years, from my humble little Genesis that I started out with, to the versatile Fizz and elegant Crystal which I also got for review purposes, but nothing has stood out more for features and easy use than the SodaStream Revolution.
In this SodaStream Revolution review, I’m going to discuss how this home soda maker works, what my personal experiences with it have been, what other customers think of it, and what its pros and cons are. Finally, if you’re interested in buying it, I’ve included a special link to where you can buy it for the best price online.
What is the SodaStream Revolution?
The SodaStream Revolution is supposed to be one of the top models in the field of home soda makers. Some reviewers have even referred to it as the Cadillac of the do-it-yourself home soda brewing appliances. If you have previously owned one of the other SodaStream models and want to move up, or are new to homemade soda making, the SodaStream Revolution is one of the top models available for sale to date.
It makes everything from sparkling water, juice, energy drinks, and pretty much every flavor of soda under the sun. Furthermore, the SodaStream Revolution can whip them up in less than 30 seconds.
Let’s talk about some of the things that put the SodaStream Revolution at the top of the home soda making world.
SodaStream Revolution Dimensions & Features:
Colors: Available in Black and Silver, made of stainless steel.
As in my previous SodaStream soda maker reviews, I wish to highlight some of the great features that the Revolution has.
First off, the lightweight stainless steel body and solid construction make the SodaStream Revolution difficult to get dirty, and very easy to clean. I am usually pretty gentle with my appliances, but sometimes things tend to get knocked around when I’m preparing things for guests. Overall, the durability of this machine is fantastic.
Touch-button activation makes this model easy to use, and the LED display shows an accurate reading of the level of gas left in the carbonator tank.
The SodaStream Revolution model can use either the smaller 14.5oz or the larger 33oz size carbonation bottles. Also, the snap on mechanism ensures there is no possibility of making a mess while carbonating water in the durable bottles.
Selectable fizz levels are easy to select on the four setting buttons next to the LCD Display. Choose from Light, Medium, High, or Turbo to customize your soda experience for any application.
Personal Experience with SodaStream Revolution
I have owned or tried many different home soda maker appliances in the last few years, and the Revolution is by far my favorite.
Cleaning it is very easy, as the stainless steel body doesn’t need more than a little water to clean anything off of it, and the frame is very well built.
My favorite part about it though is the ease of the one-touch button activation, which makes soda to the selected level of fizziness, in about 30 seconds.
The level of carbonation directly affects the quality of any drink that you can make with the SodaStream Revolution. The options available with the four different settings are great for making anything that you can think of.
Personally, I use the lower settings when making energy drinks, and the higher ones for making sodas and soft drinks. I have been using the Turbo setting more and more these days, as the extra bite of the carbonation makes for a delicious drinking experience.
Ease of Use:
There is no machine in the SodaStream lineup that is easier to use than the Revolution. The one button activation system, combined with the snap on mechanism for the bottles makes SodaStream Revolution so easy to use that it could be operated in the dark.
I have been able to make soft drinks and spritzers for my guests in about 30 seconds, and everyone always likes to gather around and watch as I do it. If you’re having guests over for a dinner party, this little gadget sure is a conversation starter!
I have always been in love with the idea of making soda on demand and this has been the perfect addition to my arsenal.
As with most home soda maker kits, the SodaStream Revolution creates great fizzy drinks almost instantly. This has been great for any party or gathering where both kids and adults are present.
Instead of lugging around a bunch of bulky bottles (that will inevitably go flat) or trying to stack cans in the refrigerator, all I have to do now is keep some chilled water in the fridge and make whatever soft drinks people want, when they want them. I can literally keep over 30 flavors of drinks in my cupboard and be able to turn them into any drink I want in less than a minute.
The versatility of the many flavors available is also great, letting me craft new and exotic drinks every time I get the chance to mix up some syrups (it can be fun experimenting with different concoctions!)
I have always been worried that I drink too much soda pop, and sometimes I am concerned about my family’s intake as well. Unlike store bought brands, the SodaStream drink have much fewer calories, no high-fructose corn syrups, and are just much better in general for your health.
Even though the Revolution is my favorite SodaStream model, it wouldn’t be a fair review if I didn’t list a few of the things that I thought could impact your experience with this home soda maker kit.
The SodaStream Revolution, being an automated unit, does require a power source to be operated. This means that the Revolution cannot be taken camping or on the road as easily, unless a readily accessible power outlet is handy. The lightweight design is nice, but it is not as portable as some other models.
The plastic 1 litre bottles (as used by several other models) are not machine washable which is something you may want to keep in mind if you plan on enjoying your unit for a long time. The bottles are quite durable themselves, but cannot be cleaned in a dishwasher, as the plastic will begin to degrade.
As I have said before, the SodaStream Revolution is one of my favorite appliances. I haven’t bought soda from the store in ages now, and I find that I enjoy the drinks that I make myself much more than canned ones anyways. The Revolution makes my soft drinks extra fizzy when I want them to have an extra bite and sparkling juices liven up any occasion with a mild bubbly softness.
This model may be a little more expensive than some of the other SodaStream home soda maker systems available, but the extra price is well worth it. I myself went and got the base model first, to test the waters of homemade soda, but I quickly learned that I should have just gotten the best one first, and saved myself all the time and money of trying out the more basic soda machines.
The SodaStream Revolution is a truly exceptional device, and has been a hit every time it has been brought out for any sort of gathering. If you’re looking to make some incredible tasting soda in the comfort of your own home, the Revolution is the machine to get.
